As an amateur photographer, I know how hard it can be for an up-and-coming artist to get their foot in the door. To succeed, you have got to get your name and your work out there to as many people as possible. One great way to do this is by entering juried shows and exhibitions.
How do you find such events? Well, I'm glad you asked because I have heard about four different shows in just the past month! Check them out:

All of these different shows do require that entrants be at least 18 years of age or older to enter. Additionally, many of them require that the work submitted has not been displayed or shown before. In the interest of fairness, many of the organizations above (with the exception of the Sunnyslope Art Walk) request that if your work is accepted, that you wait at least 2 years before submitting again. This gives others a chance to have their work displayed as well.
Whatever medium you choose to work in, there are opportunities out there waiting for you. So get out there and try your best! You never know, the next exhibit or even could be the break you have been looking for.
