More Hotels Sprout Up in Norterra Shopping Center

Jan 11, 2009

Recently, I wrote about the trio of new hotels that opened up in North Phoenix last year. "What's up with all of these new hotels?" I wondered. It would appear I spoke too soon, because two more hotels have also sprouted up in the same area! Seriously, the paint on the walls has barely dried and these places already had guests arriving when I went to check them out. Let's take a closer look:

Hampton Inn and Suites
Hilton Inn Suites Happy ValleyThe Hampton Inn and Suites Happy Valley opened in December of 2008. It is located on Charlotte Drive, behind the Super Wal-Mart on I-17 and Happy Valley Road. The four-story hotel has 125 rooms and suites, all of which include Hampton's "Cloud 9" beds and linens.

Guests will enjoy a full list of freebies such as flat-screen TVs with premium channels, wireless Internet, local calls, shuttle service, breakfast, USA Today newspaper, coffee and cookies in the lobby, and an outdoor pool and spa. The freebies you get here are better than the comps at many Las Vegas casinos!

Convenience is the name of the game, which is why the Hampton Inn and Suites has a 24-hour "Suite Shop" convenience store on the premises. Imagine yourself enjoying some drinks, snacks, or a microwaveable meal in your room without leaving the hotel. Sounds like a "suite deal" to me!

Homewood Suites
Homewood Suites Happy ValleyRight next door to the Hampton is the Homewood Suites Happy Valley, also four stories tall but with 134 suite rooms. The hotel has lots of curb appeal, thanks to its interesting mix of white, yellow, and deep brick colors that give it an almost Mediterranean feel.

Because the Homewood Suites caters to extended-stay guests, it offers several features and amenities the Hampton Inn does not have. Rooms are available with a full kitchen that includes a refrigerator, microwave oven, electric range, and cooking utensils. The rooms have the same flatscreen TVs and premium channels, but also include a DVD player for watching movies!

For the business traveler, there is a 24 hour Business Center with print, copy, and fax services. There are also computers available with Internet access and free wireless Internet throughout the hotel. There's a free copy of USA Today in the morning and free coffee in the morning to get your day started.

Finally, there's no reason a business trip cannot also include pleasure. The Homewood Suites Happy Valley features an outdoor pool and spa, a workout room, and an outdoor basketball court! That may be the first and only hotel I've seen with a feature like that.

Conclusion
So there you have it, two more hotels that are at least as good or better than the other three I've already written about. These modern hotels offer more than just a place to rest your head, they offer comfort, luxury, convenience, and recreation at nightly or weekly rates. These hotels are offering resort-like amenities without the resort-like prices. As the newest sprouts in our growing part of town, let's offer them a warm North Phoenix welcome!
