Taliesin West Night Lights Tours

May 7, 2013

Summer is just around the corner, and that means it's about to get seriously hot. Fortunately, Taliesin West allows you to beat the heat with their Night Lights Tours.

These special tours allow you to experience the wonder of Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West school in the cooler hours of the day after the sun has started to go down.

If you've never been before, the Taliesin West school is a pretty unique place to visit. You don't even have to be an architecture geek to enjoy Wright's cool designs and hear about his interesting life. There are just a lot of neat things to look at in general as they take you on a tour of the campus.

Remembering Paolo Soleri: Visionary Architect

May 3, 2013

Paolo Soleri
I am very sad to report that notable Italian architect and Arizona resident Paolo Soleri has passed away on Tuesday, April 9th, 2013.

He died of natural causes at the age of 93.

Paolo Soleri was more than just an architect, he was a creative thinker, an artist, a father, a husband, a writer, and so much more. It's a real shame that more people haven't heard of him.

John C. Lincoln Sonoran Health Center Under Construction

May 1, 2013

In spite of the recessed economy, there are still signs of growth in North Phoenix. Local healthcare provider John C. Lincoln is hard at work building a new facility at Interstate 17 just south of Carefree Highway.

The "Sonoran Health and Emergency Center" is a multi-story facility which is expected to open in late 2013 or early 2014. When complete, the facility will include hospital beds for up to 120 patients. This will allow John C. Lincoln to serve the growing communities of Anthem, New River, and Black Canyon City with medical care in a convenient location.

Historic Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress Visits Deer Valley Airport

Apr 15, 2013

Boeing B-17 Sentimental Journey
One of the most iconic American warplanes is the Boeing B-17 "Flying Fortress." These aircraft were used extensively in World War II in Europe and the Pacific. Unfortunately, many of them were shot down or were dismantled for scrap after the war.

One of these planes, "Sentimental Journey," will be making a stop at Deer Valley Airport in North Phoenix from April 15-17th, 2013. This is your chance to see one of the few B-17s left in the world in flying condition!

The B-17 is part of the Wings of Freedom tour which is put on by the Collings Foundation. In addition to the Flying Fortress, a Boeing B-24 Liberator, P-51 Mustang, and a Messerschmitt Me 262 will also be on display.
