Former Honeywell Plant to Become Microsoft Data Center

One of the largest private employers in Arizona is Honeywell, who has employed thousands of people throughout the Valley since the mid 1950s. Honeywell's Phoenix operations are a major center for aircraft and avionics manufacturing.

In 2008, the company underwent a major re-structuring which left one of their large facilities in North Phoenix completely vacant.

A recent article in the Phoenix Business Journal states that the old Honeywell plant at 25th Avenue and Union Hills will be getting a new tenant soon! The 575,000 square-foot building is likely to become a new data center for Microsoft!

This will be exciting news to have another large company on board in the North Phoenix area. The new datacenter will be in close proximity to the global headquarters of PetSmart and Best Western and be near major operations centers for American Express, Discover Card, USAA, Cox Communications, and The Knox Company.

No formal announcement has been made regarding a move-in date.

June 2020 Update: After years of construction, the building's energy and cooling capacities have been greatly upgraded. A sign on Union Hills identifies the building as Aligned Energy's Phoenix datacenter. The company is based in Plano, TX and operates data centers in Ashburn, VA, Dallas, TX, and Salt Lake City, UT. Their website offers some neat photos of the Phoenix facility as well as a video. https://www.aligneddc.com/phoenix/
