Presidential Dining in Phoenix

Apr 27, 2014

There is an unwritten rule among United States Presidents that whenever they visit Phoenix, they always make time to grab some local Mexican food.

It's no secret that Phoenix is full of great Mexican restaurants. Let's take a look at where some of the recent Presidents have eaten in Phoenix:

Bill Clinton
Poncho's Mexican Food
7202 S. Central Ave

Phoenix, AZ 85042

President Bill Clinton ate here while in office on July 7, 1999. The restaurant has commemorated this event by painting a mural of the President on the wall.

What is the Largest Casino in Arizona?

Apr 20, 2014

Did you know that Arizona is one of the leading states in the nation when it comes to Indian gaming?

It's true - Arizona is home to 22 different Native American tribes. While not all of them have casinos, many of them have found casino gaming provides a huge boost in revenues to their tribal members.

You may be wondering what is the largest casino in Arizona? Based on my own independent research, here's what I have found.

The Talking Stick Resort and Casino in Scottsdale, Arizona is the largest casino in Arizona. The 240,000 square foot facility opened in 2010 and is owned by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.

2014 Warrior Dash Arizona Photos

Apr 13, 2014

The Warrior Dash is an obstacle race in which participants are challenged to run, climb, jump over, and swim through a variety of physically demanding obstacles.

These type of events have grown rapidly in popularity over the past couple of years, with many other events such as Tough Mudder and Spartan Run also drawing large crowds.

The Warrior Dash recently came to Phoenix, AZ on April 12, 2014. This was my first time attending one of these events and I took some photos which I hope will give you an idea of what to expect at an obstacle race.

Greenway Parkway Bridge Replacement Project Begins

Mar 19, 2014

If you live or work near the area of 19th Avenue and Greenway Parkway, you'll want to know about this. A segment of Greenway Parkway from 16th Drive/Beck Ln. to 14th Ave is CLOSED until August 31, 2014. The road is closed while the bridge over Cave Creek Wash is being replaced.

Drivers must seek an alternate route as the road is closed to traffic and pedestrians in both directions. Bell Road and Thunderbird Road are recommended as alternate routes. Additionally, city bus service along Greenway Parkway will be suspended between 19th Ave and 7th Ave during this time.

Construction began on March 3rd and is scheduled to be completed at the end of August 2014.

Great Bridges of Arizona

Jan 12, 2014

Anyone who comes to Arizona will quickly realize that ours is a state of contrasts. We have everything from sand dunes to desert scrub to the rocky Mogollon Rim and the vast, open spaces of northern Arizona.

Our diverse terrain makes for some interesting challenges when trying to build a system of roadways. As engineers overcome these challenges, they do more than just link our cities and towns together, they make some pretty cool bridges, too!

Here are some photos I have taken of great bridges in Arizona:

Burro Creek Bridge

The Burro Creek Bridge is a steel arch bridge located on US 93 north of Wickenburg. Built in 1965, it carries southbound traffic about 400 feet above the waters of Burro Creek. A second span was added parallel to the original in 2005.
