Things I Love About Living In Phoenix

Mar 11, 2009

Like every city, there are both upsides and downsides to living in Phoenix. Personally, I feel the benefits greatly outweigh the costs. Lots of other people must feel the same way, since Phoenix keeps growing larger and larger each year.

Here are some of my favorite things about living in Phoenix:
  • Arizona does not participate in any Daylight Savings Time nonsense (excluding the Navajo Nation, which observes it)

  • Arizona uses the Public Land Survey System, which is an absolutely brilliant way to survey land.

  • Phoenix is safe from most natural disasters including volcanoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, blizzards, and tornadoes.

  • Navigating Phoenix is easy thanks to the grid system.

  • There are a huge variety of restaurants! Phoenix has all the major chains and plenty of independent restaurants as well.

  • There's always something new to discover!

  • Phoenix averages over 300 days of sunshine per year.

  • There is no snow to shovel...ever!

  • Rain is a cause for celebration!

  • You can wear a T-shirt in February.

  • It's a great place to live if you love driving, because everything is very spread out.

  • There are dozens of cool getaways just a short drive away (Payson, Sedona, Flagstaff, etc).

  • There are always plenty of concerts to see.

  • You can get authentic Mexican food just about everywhere in Phoenix.

  • The sunsets really are picture perfect.

  • Phoenix is not in California.
